WHY PICASSA RENOVATIONS
Landscape expertise shaped around the architecture.
Architectural Continuity
A successful landscape should feel connected to the property rather than treated as a separate project. We coordinate levels, materials, proportions, views, and transitions so the outdoor space becomes a natural extension of the architecture.
Material & Planting Quality
Paving, timber, stone, metalwork, and planting are selected for appearance, durability, maintenance, and suitability for the environment. Each element contributes to a landscape that matures gracefully and performs throughout the seasons.
Technical Coordination
Drainage, lighting, irrigation, foundations, utilities, boundaries, and access are resolved before the final finishes are installed. Careful coordination protects the landscape’s appearance and long-term performance.
THE BASEMENT CONVERSION PROCESS
From garden survey to refined outdoor living.
01. SITE ASSESSMENT
We assess the garden’s dimensions, orientation, levels, access, soil, drainage, boundaries, existing vegetation, and relationship with the property. These findings establish the opportunities and technical constraints of the site.
02. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
Working with the appointed design team, we develop the layout, circulation, planting strategy, material palette, lighting, and functional zones. The design is shaped around the architecture, the client’s lifestyle, and the intended level of maintenance.
03. PLANNING & APPROVALS
Some projects may require approval for significant level changes, listed properties, protected trees, conservation areas, boundary structures, outbuildings, or work affecting drainage. Relevant requirements are identified before the affected work proceeds.
04. GROUNDWORKS & INFRASTRUCTURE
The site is prepared through excavation, levelling, drainage, foundations, retaining structures, utility routes, and soil improvement. These concealed elements establish the landscape’s stability and long-term performance.
05. HARD LANDSCAPING & PLANTING
Paving, steps, walls, terraces, decking, fencing, joinery, lighting, and other constructed elements are installed according to the agreed specification. Trees, shrubs, hedging, lawn, and seasonal planting are then introduced to complete the composition.
06. COMPLETION & AFTERCARE
The finished landscape is inspected, tested, cleaned, and prepared for use. Relevant product information, warranties, planting schedules, and maintenance guidance are provided at handover.
KEY CONSIDERATIONS
What to know before starting.
Site Conditions
Orientation, soil type, drainage, levels, access, existing trees, neighbouring properties, and underground services all influence the design. Early assessment helps determine what is practical and prevents avoidable problems during construction.
Drainage & Materials
Exterior materials must perform safely in changing UK weather conditions. Suitable falls, drainage, sub-bases, slip resistance, frost resistance, and installation methods are essential for lasting results.
Budget & Timeline
A landscape project may require approximately 6–16 weeks, depending on its scale, access, ground conditions, structural work, material availability, and planting requirements. Larger or highly detailed gardens may require a longer programme or phased delivery.
